• A pot of boiling water
• A bowl of ice water
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Prepare the Tomatoes:
• Wash the tomatoes and use a sharp knife to score a small “X” on the bottom of each tomato. This will help the skin loosen during the process.
2. Blanch the Tomatoes:
• Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil.
• Carefully drop the tomatoes into the boiling water. Let them cook for 15-30 seconds, or until you see the skin starting to curl or wrinkle around the “X” mark.
3. Shock the Tomatoes:
• Use a slotted spoon to transfer the tomatoes immediately into a bowl of ice water. The sudden temperature change stops the cooking process and makes the skin easier to peel.
